PROBLEMS: There was a dark single lavatory cabinet in the original bathroom that was dominated by “earth tone” colors. The shower was very small.

CREATIVE SOLUTIONS: The remodeled 1970s Japanese-style master shower was made larger by borrowing space from the adjacent guest bathroom. The contemporary bathroom has a Japanese feeling, with a two-person custom lavatory cabinet. Tile chosen for the new shower and flooring is elegant, and the mix of field tile and decorative inserts is uniquely interesting. The new shower has a rain head shower head and a personal shower, a large corner bench, and storage for personal-care products. The color scheme is updated earth tones to fit the homeowners’ taste while maintaining architectural integrity with the home.

TESTIMONIAL: Diane helped us develop plans for remodeling 3 bathrooms in our 1970’s house. We chose her because of her familiarity with accessible design. With a goal of “aging in place”, we wanted to expand our main floor powder room to include a curbless shower. In order to add this shower, we needed to reconfigure the whole bathroom as well as an adjoining hallway and our entry foyer.

There were many variables to consider given our existing space, accessibility goals, and our desire to create an aesthetically pleasing room. Diane drew up several options and patiently worked with us through multiple revisions. She was a good listener and incorporated everything we requested when making these revisions. Diane also helped us develop plans for two upstairs bathrooms including an expanded shower and a walk-in closet in the master bathroom.

After working with us through multiple revisions, Diane produced a comprehensive set of drawings showing the detailed space plan along with elevations from every angle and electrical diagrams.

Contractors commented that Diane’s drawings are thorough and they will be able to work from her plans with no difficulty. We can’t wait to see these plans evolve into finished rooms!
