PROBLEMS: The large great room addition was over 1300 square feet, and the wife was confused about what to do with the space. She especially needed help with placing all the kitchen appliances, three sinks, and custom storage for the area. Entertaining and cooking demonstrations were her two main priorities.
CREATIVE SOLUTIONS: The new kitchen, which is over 450 square feet, is divided into baking preparation, cooking preparation, two cleanup areas, a juice bar, and two countertop seating areas. Custom solid-color “cream” cabinets mixed with dark-stained cabinets add a dramatic effect. Inside every cabinet, there are special storage and use accessories. The high-end appliances include a gas cooktop and a smaller magnetic induction cooktop, freezer drawers, and a built-in dedicated refrigerator. In addition to the main sink, there are two large prep. sinks. Both the island and the peninsula have seating areas, and there’s an eating nook for relaxing breakfasts. Other areas of the addition include a formal dining room and living room with custom “furniture” cabinets.
TESTIMONIAL: Diane was a pleasure to work with. She listened carefully to all our ideas and came up with a dynamic kitchen and dining room design that fit my needs completely! She never lost her cool even when I called her at the last minute and said I needed an under counter microwave on the bar. She simply said, “Let’s see what I can do” and she increased the size and shape of our smoothie bar to make it work! Her total design was beautiful and when friends walk into my house the first time, they usually stop, look and exclaim “Wow!”
